Style x Art Edit #7
Paul Klee’s Senecio, completed in 1922, encompasses several recurring themes in the artist’s body of works. Namely, his interest in the interdependence of color, line, and form through abstract geometric shapes. In this painting understood to represent the face of an old man (Senecio in latin), one can identify references to African art that inspired cubism as well as the artist’s interest in the use of simple yet efficient shapes to create the faces’ movements and expressions. Additionally, the painting is definitely playful and full of humor, whether one considers the childish shapes or the jaded facial expression.
His work calls for lightness during these times of transitional weather, bulky sweaters, yes, but keep them bright. Be aware of the relationship between the shapes of your top and bottom and add a few funny accessories to elevate a seemingly simple fall look… Done!
